Stamping: Cutting sheet metal with power and precision
The traditional and proven method of cutting out workpieces from sheet metal
is the stamping process. The tool is made from hardened steel with a stamp (positive)
and a die (negative). The stamp is pressed through the sheet metal by the pressure
of a hydraulic press and so cuts out the workpiece.
In mass production, stamping takes place on a conveyor belt.
Other cutting methods are laser cutting and nibbling.
